CEO of Banco Votorantim S/A between September 2011 and November 2016.  During this period he was also Board Member of Febraban (Federation of Brazilian Banks).

At present João is the founding partner at Inviste, a proprietary investment company focused on real estate, venture capital and impact business. He is also a Board Member of BRMalls.

He was the Executive Vice-President of Santander Brasil and Banco ABN AMRO Real S/A between 2002 e 2011, acting also as member of the Executive Board responsible for Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) and Wholesale Banking. Between 2007 and 2010 he was also Board Member of Anbima (Brazilian Association of Financial and Capital Markets).

Professional experience includes also the following:

  • Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (Head of Investment Banking - Brazil between 1995 e 2002)
  • Treasury Department in Brasil (Advisor to Minister Fernando Henrique Cardoso, 1993) and
  • Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (professor at the Economics Department).

Has a BA degree in Economics (1983-1987) and Master degree in Economics at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro PUC RJ (1988-1989). In addition, has an MBA at London Business School, 1995.
